GUBERNA and Cyber Security Coalition join forces to strengthen governance and cyber resilience

GUBERNA and Cyber Security Coalition join forces to strengthen governance and cyber resilience

GUBERNA and the Cyber Security Coalition are teaming up to empower Belgian organisations with stronger governance and cyber resilience.

Brussels, 15 July 2025 — GUBERNA, the Institute of Directors, and the Cyber Security Coalition are proud to announce a strategic partnership aimed at advancing good governance and cybersecurity resilience across Belgium.

This collaboration formalises a recently established relationship between the two organisations, which joined forces during the 2024 BE-CYBER event on “Secure Belgium’s Digital Future.” Recognising their complementary missions and shared values, GUBERNA and the Cyber Security Coalition have now signed an agreement to become Befriended Organisations.

A shared vision for resilient leadership

GUBERNA, a non-profit knowledge institute and member network for directors, and the Cyber Security Coalition, Belgium’s leading cybersecurity ecosystem, are aligning their efforts to support organisations in navigating today’s complex regulatory and strategic challenges. By integrating governance and cybersecurity expertise, the partnership aims to empower boards with the tools and insights needed to lead securely and responsibly.

Stronger together

Both organisations commit to promoting each other’s initiatives and events to their respective member communities. GUBERNA will actively engage in Coalition-led initiatives, while the Coalition will contribute to GUBERNA’s educational and awareness programmes on cybersecurity for directors. Representatives of both organisations will participate in each other’s forums, training sessions and networking events to keep strong ties.

The Coalition will benefit from GUBERNA’s extensive knowledge hub and expert network. GUBERNA will support the Coalition in reaching board candidates and sharing governance insights. GUBERNA will gain direct access to the Coalition’s extensive cybersecurity expertise, practical resources, and peer-to-peer collaboration opportunities. The Coalition’s trusted network enables GUBERNA to stay ahead of emerging cyber threats, benefit from tailored awareness campaigns, and participate in policy-shaping discussions that strengthen governance and resilience at board level.

Looking ahead

This partnership opens the door to future joint projects, publications, and events that bridge the gap between cybersecurity and governance. It reflects a growing recognition that resilient organisations require integrated leadership across all domains—from digital security to strategic oversight.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening governance in a digital age. By joining forces with the Cyber Security Coalition, we aim to equip directors with the insights and tools they need to navigate cybersecurity challenges with confidence.” Sandra Gobert, Executive Director Guberna

“Cybersecurity is no longer just a technical issue—it’s a boardroom priority. Through this partnership with GUBERNA, we aim to help directors better understand the impact of cyber incidents and the personal responsibility they carry in shaping resilient organisations.”Jan De Blauwe, Chair Cyber Security Coalition

We look forward to the impactful collaborations ahead and invite our members and partners to engage with both GUBERNA and the Coalition as we build a safer, smarter, and more accountable future.

About the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition

The mission of the Cyber Security Coalition is to bolster Belgium’s cyber security resilience by building a strong cyber security ecosystem. We do so by bringing together the skills and expertise of the academic world, the private sector and public authorities on a trust-based platform aimed at fostering information exchange, operational peer-to-peer collaboration, making recommendations for more effective policies and guidelines, and finally carrying out joint awareness-raising campaigns aimed at citizens and organisations. More than 1,200 representatives of our 200+ member organizations participate in our activities and as such contribute to our mission.
