Identity & Access Management (IAM)
The IAM Focus Group’s primary goal is to foster the exchange of information and best practices concerning IAM projects. IAM remains pivotal in cybersecurity as identity theft and access management vulnerabilities continue to underpin numerous incidents. Given its complexity, our members are eager to contribute operational insights into IAM deployments within their organizations.
Objectives
Topics
IAM covers a multitude of topics. At the kick-off event, the permanent chair conducted a survey to rank the most recognized topics and welcomed suggestions for additional ones. Despite not initially listed, Cloud IAM emerged frequently in responses and will now be included. Below is the ranked list of topics from the survey:
- Access Management
- Identity Management
- Governance & compliance in IAM
- PAM (Privileged Access Management)
- Zero trust IAM architectures
- Authentication
- Recertification process
- Digital twins
- Account management
- Credentials
- Password Management
- Cloud IAM
Practices
The IAM Focus Group typically meets quarterly, primarily in person. The meeting organisation follows a matrix principle, aligning topics (as listed above) with various aspects (as listed below) to structure the discussions:
- Strategy
- Technology
- Implementation & operation
During a Focus Group meeting, one topic is selected for in-depth discussion. Participants will delve into three key aspects: strategy, technology, and implementation/operation, allowing for comprehensive exploration and insights.
How to join the group
Admission to the Focus Group is subject to Coalition membership. The Focus Group is geared towards:
- IAM vendors who can provide insights into the latest evolutions in IAM deployments
- Any end-users who can provide insights in the challenges of implementing and operating IAM systems in real-world environments
- Researchers can provide insights into the latest research on IAM
