Bart Preneel is a full professor at KU Leuven, where he leads the COSIC research group. He has also served as a visiting professor at five universities across Europe. His primary research interests include cryptography, cybersecurity, and privacy. Preneel has been an invited speaker at over 150 conferences in 50 countries. He received the RSA Award for Excellence in the Field of Mathematics in 2014 and is a fellow of the IACR. Preneel frequently consults industry and government on cybersecurity and privacy technologies and has been actively involved in cybersecurity policy debates. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Board of the Cyber Security Coalition.

Ann Mennens is a seasoned cybersecurity and communication professional specialising in cybersecurity awareness and training with a focus on the human factor. Currently, she manages the European Commission’s CyberAware Programme within the Cybersecurity Directorate of DIGIT, raising the cyber awareness of the whole Commission staff, highlighting their role in contributing to the safeguarding of the Commission assets and systems, while promoting a safe online experience. She is in charge of training and communication on cybersecurity and oversees the network of Local Informatics Security Officers (LISOs). Ann is the Chair of the interinstitutional Technical Advisory Group on the Human Factor in Cybersecurity for the Interinstitutional Cybersecurity Board, guiding collaborative efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness raising, training and skills development, enhancing the cybersecurity culture in and among Union entities.
Ann was involved in the creation of the Women4Cyber Foundation and is a board member of the Women4Cyber Belgium Chapter. She is a longstanding member of the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition, actively contributing to its Awareness Raising Focus Group, and a member of ENISA’s Ad-Hoc Working Group on Awareness Raising and Cyber Hygiene. She is a strong supporter of reskilling in cybersecurity, from any type of background, bringing diversity and increasing gender balance in the cybersecurity sector.
Ann was manager of the Belgian Cybercrime Centre of Excellence for Training, Research, and Education (B-CCENTRE) at the KU Leuven (2011-2016), coordinating activities of several academic research groups, public sector bodies and businesses. Before 2011, she was managing several European projects in areas like health, food safety, drugs, justice, transport, law enforcement, crisis management, migration, accession to the EU.
Ann holds a master’s in European studies and a master’s in history from KU Leuven. In December 2025, she was elected Belgium’s Cyber Security Personality of the Year.
Chris De Bondt

After being trained as a sociologist, which proved to be interesting but not very helpful to start a career, Chris has been in IT for the whole of his working life. Starting out as a system engineer on mainframe computers, he quickly moved to managerial and project lead roles, like setting up a disaster recovery program or implementing automation for unmanned data center operations. Working in a variety of sectors, such as insurance, IT software, federal government and banking, he has focused on IT security and risk management for the past 20 years. Currently he is the solution manager for IT Risk & Security at KBC, responsible for coordinating security architects and product managers in developing consistent and effective roadmaps for the different security solutions. When he’s not worrying about hackers, Chris can sometimes be seen riding a bike or cooking a meal for his wife and 2 sons, while listening to all sorts of podcasts or some good music.

After obtaining a master’s degree in Ancient History and a master’s degree in information and communication technologies (INFODOC) at ULB, Phédra Clouner began her career at the Belgian Ministry of Finance as an IT project manager. Specialising in document management, enterprise content management and records management, she became head of information management, business intelligence and web content management at the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, she became president of document@work, the Belgian-Luxembourg association for enterprise content management, and founded and manages the Belgian branch of FEDISA international (the federation for information lifecycle management, storage and archiving). Passionate about information security, she was also CISO for the Ministry of Justice and continues to evolve in this field. She has been Deputy Director General of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), the Belgian national cybersecurity agency, since its creation just over 9 years ago. The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) is the national authority for cybersecurity in Belgium. The CCB supervises, coordinates and monitors the implementation of the Belgian cybersecurity strategy. Thanks to an optimal exchange of information, businesses, the government, providers of essential services and the general public can protect themselves appropriately. She is vice-chair of the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition. She is also a member of the advisory board of the FIC (International Cybersecurity Forum). She is a founding member of the Women4Cyber initiative launched by the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO). She is co-founder of the Belgian chapter of Women4Cyber.

Ian West

Until February 2024, Ian West was the Chief of Cyber Security within the NATO Communications and Information Agency – the primary provider of ICT solutions and services for the Alliance. He led an integrated team of experts providing a broad range of whole-lifecycle, cyber security services: from service design, through to implementation and operation of NATO’s cyber security defences. Before assuming this role, Ian West was the Director of the NATO Computer Incident Response Capability (NCIRC) Technical Centre. From the initial declaration of the NCIRC’s operational status in 2004, he led the development of operational cyber defence within the Alliance, helping to transform the NATO Nations’ strategic vision for improved cyber defence into an effective capability. Ian West’s appointments with the NCI Agency followed around 30 years’ experience in the military security arena. He was formerly a law enforcement and security officer in the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom and later responsible for INFOSEC policy, inspections and security accreditation for NATO’s Allied Command Operations. In the SC Magazine (Europe)’s awards for 2016, the NCI Agency cyber security team was awarded a Highly Commended in the Best Security Team of the Year category and Ian was honoured with the cyber security industry’s highest award of ‘Chief Information Security Officer of the Year’.

With over 35 years of experience in IT, Guy Hofmans has built a versatile career at KBC Global Services, taking on key roles in business analysis, leading software development projects, and process integration programmes. As a seasoned project- and programme manager, he successfully delivered several large-scale strategic migration initiatives, including the euro implementation (as overarching test manager for KBC Belgium); cooperated in the Y2K programme; was one of the project leaders in the merger of Kredietbank, Cera, ABB; programme manager of two major carve-out programmes: Centea and Fidea; and the implementation and launch of KBC Brussels as a new brand. His last assignment at KBC was in the field of cybersecurity, which was a perfect preparation for the transition to the Cyber Security Coalition in July 2022, where he takes the role as the Operations manager, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field of the Belgian cybersecurity. In his spare time Guy likes to read a good book, loves traveling as much as possible and enjoys playing tennis. But what he enjoys most is spending time with good friends and his family.

Patrick Hauspie graduated in 1988 as a civil engineer in mechanical-electrical engineering. He started his career at Bombardier Transportation as engineer for the computer network, passenger information, system integration, wireless communication with maintenance centres and operations centre and this for many international projects in the UK, Canada, Australia, India, Germany, France, etc. He cooperated with a team of software architects and developers, where safety and security were very important (remote SW updates also for braking systems, traction, etc). Fabrice Clément is the Group CISO of Proximus, the national telecommunications operator in Belgium. He is co-founder and Board member of the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition. He is also treasurer and Board member of the European Telecommunications Association ETIS and a Board member of Proximus Ada, the Center of Excellence in AI and cybersecurity.
Fabrice Clément oversees all cybersecurity and business continuity matters for the Proximus Group. The mission of his organization is to ensure business continuity and to protect the company’s business, operations, and reputation against internal and external threats, as well as to collaborate with the governmental and judicial authorities in the fight against crime.

After a career with EY Belgium as General Manager of Technology and Security Risk Services, he founded what became today Ataya & Partners SRL. He is also active with Hightech Partners, Executive Search firm specialised with Digital Leaders and Service Provider Executives on a European level. Past International Vice President of ISACA from 2006 to 2010, Past Chair of the External Relations Committee and co-founder of the Value Governance framework and the VALIT publications, he was involved in revamping COBIT and initiating the activities since 2002 of the IT Governance Institute. Georges is the co-author of the initial body of knowledge and co-founder of both credentials: “Information Security Manager” CISM and “Certificate in Governance Enterprise IT” CGEIT. His initial involvement in information security dates from his active participation at the IBAG Business Advisory Group toward the European Commission in 1993-1995.
